Training Camp takes place

in the woods of middle-of-nowhere Georgia

where you’re kindly fed fish head soup, ugali,

and a grilled tomato banana and cheese sandwich.

Where you sleep in tents,

then on a school bus,

then under a tarp.

And you go to bed after midnight

only to wake up a few hours later,

before even a hint of the sun rise,

to freeze your buns off at morning exercise

running up and down the hills of Georgia.

Yep, these people are crazy.

Some of these people are alumni.

People who flew, drove, and hitchhiked

to spend the week with us, sleep deprived,

at training camp.

They served us by scrubbing toilets,

waking up at 4am to cook our food for the day,

and praying life/truth into us

over and over and over again.

Their clothes never match

…I'm pretty sure they've forgotten how.

They saw greatness in me and pushed me towards it.

They’re ALWAYS either-

a. dancing

b. laughing or

c. praying.

These people are crazy!

Speaking of prayer-

Its like the real deal for these people.

Rarely …never... did I hear prayer start with

“Dear Heavenly Father”.

Usually it started more like

“Hey Daddy” or,

“Its me again Papa” or,

“Abba we love you” or simply,

“Hi!”

…It’s almost like they KNOW this guy?!

These people are crazy.

They stand on chairs

or in the middle of the woods on chairs

and yell things.

Declarations they like to call them.

These people are crazy.

During worship there are people

laughing,

dancing,

praying,

sitting,

and standing.

Some people have their hands in the air,

and others have their faces on the ground.

Yikes. These people are crazy.

These people dream about

shutting down every brothel,

ending the AIDS epidemic in Swaziland,

getting clean water for African villages,

seeing Haiti restored,

and finding a loving home for every orphan.

They dream about these things

because they’re actually living to make them happen.

I'm telling you-

these people are crazy.

Everyday normal conversation

consists of things like-

fire tunnels,

feedback,

declarations,

poop problems,

and ridiculously awesome

workings of the Holy Spirit.

These people are crazy.

And apparently,

after traveling the world for 11+ months

it becomes difficult, if not impossible,

to speak in full sentences.

Because of this,

everything is shortened by an acronym.

ATL,

OES,

TIA…

I guess I should start practicing!

These people are crazy.

These people actually believe

every word of the Bible to be true.

They believe healings are possible. Now. Today.

They believe that God breathes and life happens.

They believe we are no longer slaves to sin.

They believe that the power of Christ is IN us.

They believed in the potential for the quiet girl sitting in the back

with the walls around her heart to experience freedom and love.

They believe and pray the same prayer Jesus did-

“on earth as it is in Heaven”.

And you know what…

I’ve started praying that too.

Because I actually really, really like that idea.

On earth as it is in Heaven?

Absolutely. Bring it on.

There’s no doubt in my mind

that those strange Kingdom minded people

who I met this week in the woods of Georgia

are absolutely CRAZY.

But what I decided this week is,

I’m ready to be crazy too!

The Kingdom of God is worth my abandonment.

i must be incredibly dense it took me too long to realize he is an alcolholic

he'd throw things and he'd hit things and he'd hurt us

the whole time i tried to figure out

what was i doing to make him that way

what mistake did i make

how did i somehow hurt him to make him act that way.

now i have some distance from that madness

the one thing i can see now, that i couldn't see before.

it wasn't me, it was him.

i have no idea where he is. most days here he would sit and watch tv. some days in a bathrobe over his clothes.
he went to church, but refused to become involved. the dichotomy between christianity and depravity was confusing and sometimes scary.
he rarely showered or shaved nor brushed his teeth... sounds like depression to me.
he would walk around the area picking up cans to recycle to buy cigarettes. didn't want to ask for cig money - i would have been more appreciative if can money went to something useful instead of cancer sticks.
every once in while he cooked for us, mostly just for himself. some dishes were washed.
then he began buying alcohol again.
waiting for a check in the mail..
.talked about past, politics, paparazzi.
didn't do the things you would expect a man to do. wants to be respected for past accomplishments and for being a 47 year old male.
has no idea how to maintain trust and affection. ignores the people who love him most. almost always charming to outsiders.
has burnt most bridges and fiddled while they burned.
then he began buying alcohol again. waiting for a check in the mail...

I just made a few for the daughter (Katie) of a friend of mine, Beth. This one has flowers on top and stripes on the bottom. The clipboard is bright pink. I used smiley face and flower buttons. The pencil pouch is soft pink velour.

Clipboard is bright, translucent green: the plastic protector with price tag is still on, but it is easily removed. This one has fuzzy pink velour on the bottom and the pencil pouch. The top fabric, as you can see, is bright stripes. The buttons are flowers and a heart, or a smiley face. It is about 12" by 15" and 3" thick.

Kyle is Eleven years old today. He is traveling over-the-road with his Dad. Last I spoke to him, he was in Indianapolis, on his way to Arkansas. I'll talk to him tonight after 9pm. I'm sure he is having a memorable birthday! We miss him and Love him Lots.

NEWSFLASH! Got a JOB @ local coffee/sandwich/gift shop. Love It! Paninis, how cool is that? (or hot actually). Now i have to learn the difference between Latte, Chai Latte, Espresso, and everything Coffee!

Just in time, too! As soon as i finished the curtains for neighbor they locked us out of their internet!... I KNOW! it is their internet they can do whatever they want. However, just as soon as I finished their curtains??? and i was trying to work part time selling on ebay?? COLD-Blooded!

Also the boys are attending Kids College @ the nearby Christian Camp. They are learning Archery, Balloon Animals, Woodworking and Electronics. Kyle accepted CHRIST into his heart. He has done this before, but felt led to do it again!

Vacation Bible School this week. I am glad it is in the afternoon. We have been staying up late (Craig Ferguson, I KNOW!).

We can walk/bike to VBS.

No need to pay for gas this week. Although the price has come down a little. $3.88 here.

Sewing some curtains for a neighbor.

Wild life visitors from the woods: two foxes, raccoons, bunnies, and the smell of a skunk. The foxes and the raccoons come right up to the house looking for food. They scare easily. The foxes are getting bolder. I threw a basketball at them tonight. Missed them - they are quick!

The Little Tiger Stripe by Kyle's foot is Tiny Tim. He has Cerebral Hypoplasia. He has his good weeks and his bad weeks. He has special needs. My daughter (Bri) is caring for him until she leaves for a job in Japan. Then Tiny Tim will come home to Me and my Boys.

I was out on the front deck, on the phone, sunning my legs, when I heard a plaintive kitten cry. I opened the door, expecting to see a kitten in imminent danger or some kind of peril. My two sons, mama kitty, and kittens were nowhere in sight. Suddenly a small black and white furball came running full tilt at my feet. He was alone and not okay with that! I picked him up and went in search of the others. We located them outside in the back yard.... 3 little kitten musketeers (or would that be: mouseketeers?) reunited and inseperable. Until we find homes for them, of course.
